VENUS Basic Training (UK)

General information

Duration 3 days
The course takes you through the key concepts you need to learn in order to program using VENUS. A comprehensive appendix in the provided training booklet supplements the contents.

Are you using a different VENUS version? No problem, VENUS 6 is not much different from older versions. So you will also learn how to work with older versions if you attend a VENUS 6 training course.

The following topics are covered:
  • VENUS 6 User Interface
  • Introduction to the VENUS Software Editors incl. System Configuration Editor
  • Creation of Deck Layouts and Methods
  • Creation of Sequences and usage within a Method
  • Usage of General Steps, Power Steps and Single Steps
  • Usage of general User Dialogs and Timers
  • Usage of HSL Libraries and Local Sub-Methods (basics)
  • Pipetting different Volumes using an Array
  • Transports
  • Basic knowledge of Liquid Handling, Error Handling and Tip Handling
  • Hitpicking according a worklist
  • Hands-on sessions on a real System (if time)
General computer skills

Adequate language skills in English
 
The training is ideal for anyone who has a ML STAR system and would like to understand, optimize and create their own methods.
 
Give attendees the skills to go back to their own systems and initially edit their current methods and then start to develop their own methods.
Check your account for further information after enrolment for a training course. In your account, you can find the agenda and general information about travel and stay.

Note that you need to organise and pay for your travel and stay. Lunch will be provided and you are invited to join us for a meal in the evening on the first day of the course.
 
Training confirmation (Letter of Attendance) upon successful completion of a training course.
 
The course is a mixture of presentations, computer exercises and practical exercises. These exercises consist of easy application examples in the beginning, while becoming increasingly complex. If time, there are some hands-on sessions on a ML STAR system in the end of the training.

HAMILTON is providing laptops for the training. There is no need to bring your own laptop.
 
Presentation slides are written in English. 

Please note that this training is a programmer's training that transmits skills in order to develop applications on your ML STAR system.

Lunch will  be provided on each training day.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: These courses are reserved for customers of the UK subsidiary.  Others can register but will be placed on the waiting list and informed 2 weeks before the course if a place is available.

You can cancel the training up to two weeks before the first training day without any cancellation fee. To cancel a training, log in to your account and click 'deregister'.

In case of too few participants (minimum 3) or due to other reasons, training dates may be changed or courses cancelled. In this case, you will be informed as soon as possible. HAMILTON does not cover any costs resulting from changed or cancellation of training dates.
Standard prices for a 3 day basic training course: 2,500 GBP* per participant.
*Discount may be available for customers on Premium Plus service contracts.

If you purchased your training  with a HAMILTON system, you need to provide the quotation or opportunity number for the system for enrolment in a training course.

For training independent of the purchase of an instrument, please contact our HAMILTON Training Team and request a quote for the desired course. Please specify the number of participants and the desired training course.

You can also enrol without a quote. and will be able to ask for a quote as part of the enrolment process

For training not purchased with an instrument a PO must be received by Hamilton before the training course start.

Please note that each participant must register individually: Each participant must create an account, choose the training course and enroll for this training course.
